
Carolina Earns ACC Road Win At Virginia Tech

UNC opened with the doubles point, with the No. 1 duo of William Blumberg and Robert Kelly winning 6-3. On Court 3, Anu Kodali and Ronnie Schneider claimed a 6-4 victory to put Carolina up 1-0.
The Hokies evened the score with the first singles point, as Mitch Harper beat Kelly 6-3, 6-3 on Court 3. The Tar Heels then claimed the next three matches to earn the win. On Court 2, Blumberg beat Alex Ribeiro 6-4, 6-2. Carolina's senior starters then delivered wins to get the Tar Heels to four points. On Court 1, Schneider, ranked 19th, topped No. 74 Jai Corbet 6-4, 6-3. Jack Murray then clinched on Court 5, winning 6-2, 6-3.
Virginia Tech claimed the final two singles matches. On Court 4, freshman Simon Soendergaard fell to No. 107 Henrik Korsgaard 6-4, 7-6, with a 7-4 score in the tiebreaker. The only singles match to go to three sets was at No. 6, where sophomore Blaine Boyden won the first set 6-4, but fell 6-2 in both the second and third to suffer his first loss of the spring.
Next up, the Tar Heels step out of conference play for a meeting with No. 45 Tulsa. Carolina hosts the Golden Hurricane on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
