
#3 Carolina Fends Off Pitt, 5-2

North Carolina (14-2, 4-0 ACC) remained unbeaten in conference play thanks to another doubles point victory to grab an early 1-0 lead over Pitt, who falls to 5-3, 1-3.
No. 31 Jessie Aney and Kate Vialle were first to record a doubles win, 6-2, over Audrey Ann Blakely and Gabriela Rezende. The point was clinched when Ashley Dai and Chloe Ouellet-Pizer won 6-2 over Callie Frey and Natsumi Okamoto on court three.
In singles, 84th-ranked Jessie Aney made it 2-0 Tar Heels with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Callie Frey on court two.
Pitt cut its deficit in half with a win on court five, but second-ranked Hayley Carter and later Kate Vialle won on courts one and three, respectively, to give Carolina a 4-1 lead and the win over the Panthers.
Freshman Chloe Ouellet-Pizer added a win on court four to close out the 5-2 win for the Tar Heels.
Carolina hosts Wake Forest on Friday at 3 p.m.
