FAMILIAR FACE ON BUCKNELL COACHING STAFF
Former Tar Heel player Martina Wood ('01) is in her second season as an assistant coach at Bucknell. As a player, she appeared in 93 games and was on back-to-back Final Four teams and helped UNC win three ACC Tournament titles.
LAST TIME OUT
Stephanie Watts scored 28 points to lead North Carolina to an 80-35 victory over Alabama A&M on Thursday night from Carmichael Arena. Watts, the 2016 ACC Freshman of the Year, caught fire in the second half with 17 points on 5-of-6 shooting from beyond the arc. She hauled in 11 rebounds for her eighth career double-double, and tied a personal best with six makes from three-point land. Jamie Cherry and Paris Kea each added 10 points.
North Carolina scored 16 of the first 18 points of the game and never looked back in the lopsided victory, improving the Tar Heels to a 2-0 record early in the season.
