
#1 UNC Eases Past Hokies At ACC Quarters

CARY, N.C. - Top seed and No. 1 ranked North Carolina eased past Virginia Tech, 4-0, on Friday in the quarterfinal round of the ACC Women's Tennis Championship.
North Carolina took the early 1-0 lead with the opening doubles point of the match. Ashley Dai and Kate Vialle set the tone early with an 8-2 win on court three. That was soon followed up with an 8-3 win on court one by the combination of Jamie Loeb and Caroline Price.
The Tar Heels dominated singles play as well over the Hokies, winning the first set on all six courts.
Vialle was the first to finish up, winning 6-0, 6-3 on court five. Minutes later, Price wrapped up in straight sets on court three.
Whitney Kay clinched the match on court four, also winning in straight sets, giving Carolina the victory in just over two hours.
UNC will face fourth-seed Virginia on Saturday in the semifinals. The match is scheduled for 2 p.m. on ESPN3. Inclement weather could change the venue. Stay tuned to GoHeels.com and to @UNC_wtennis on twitter for updates.
