
No. 6 UNC Falls to No. 7 Virginia 7-0

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The No. 6 North Carolina men's tennis team (15-3, 2-1 ACC) fell to No. 7 Virginia (11-2, 3-0 ACC) 7-0 on Friday afternoon at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
The Cavaliers squeaked out the doubles point in deciding tiebreaker before sweeping all six singles matches to secure the victory.
Virginia struck first in doubles on court two, where Alex Domijan and Mitchell Frank defeated Oystein Steiro and Nelson Vick 8-5. The Tar Heels' duo of Brayden Schnur and Brett Clark countered quickly on court one, cruising to an 8-3 victory over the 60th-ranked pair of Mac Styslinger and Luca Corinteli.
With the doubles point on the line, Virginia's pair of Thai-Son Kwiatkowski and Justin Shane edged the 67th-ranked freshmen duo of Ronnie Schneider and Jack Murray in a tiebreaker, 8-7(7-4).
Despite sending two matches to third sets, the Tar Heels were unable to tally a singles win.
No. 33 Alex Domijan beat No. 18 Brayden Schnur 6-2, 6-2 on court two for the Cavaliers' first singles victory. Thai-Son Kwiatkowski followed up with another straight-sets win, defeating Esben Hess-Olesen at the No. 4 spot, 6-2, 6-3.
Sixth-ranked Mitchell Frank sealed the match for Virginia with a 7-5, 6-1 win on court one over Carolina's 32nd-ranked Ronnie Schneider.
"Virginia is a great team, so you have to give them credit," said North Carolina head coach Sam Paul. "We've got to move on and learn from this."
The Tar Heels will be back in action on Sunday when they host No. 49 Virginia Tech at 2 p.m.
