No. 6 UNC Sweeps Appalachian State, Charleston

North Carolina (15-3) won all six singles matches in a 6-0 victory over Appalachian State in the morning. Doubles was not played.
Kate Vialle was the first to finish for the Tar Heels, earning a 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles. Top ranked Jamie Loeb had a 6-2, 6-0 victory at No. 1.
Ashley Dai picked up a 6-4, 6-1 win at No. 4 and fifth-ranked Hayley Carter clinched the victory with a 6-2, 6-3 win at No. 2.
Laura Slater at No. 6 and Tessa Lyons at No. 5 completed the sweep with a pair of straight-set victories.
Carolina did not relinquish a point in the afternoon, winning 7-0 over the host Cougars.
The double combinations of Loeb/Carter and Dai/Lyons brought home the doubles point for an early 1-0 advantage.
The Tar Heels would then win all six singles matches, including five in straight sets. Loeb won 6-0, 6-0 for a 2-0 lead at No. 1, improving to 36-2 on the season.
Slater was next to finish, losing only one point in her match at No. 6.
Carter won 6-1, 6-1, to clinch the match for the second time on Wednesday. Dai and Lyons followed with wins, before Whitney Kay completed the sweep with a 7-5, 6-3 victory at No. 4.
UNC returns to the court on Sunday, March 23 against Notre Dame at 11 a.m., from the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
