UNC-William & Mary Postgame Notes
December 31, 2014 | Men's Basketball
• The Tar Heels are now 10-3 overall and 5-1 at the Smith Center this season. UNC begins ACC play on Saturday evening at Clemson.
• Carolina is now 20-3 against the Tribe.
• The Tar Heels shot 50.8 percent from the floor, the second straight game UNC has made at least half of its field goal attempts. This is the first time UNC has shot 50 percent or better from the floor in back-to-back games since shooting 54.5 at Duke and 50.8 against Maryland in the 2012 ACC Tournament quarterfinal.
• Carolina shot 65.6 percent from the floor in the first half. That was the second-highest percentage in any half this year and the best mark in any first half this season.
• UNC hit eight three-pointers, matching the team's season high this year (also eight vs. UCLA).
• The Tar Heels are 15 for 39 (.385) from three-point range in the last two games.
• J.P. Tokoto led Carolina in both scoring and rebounds with 19 points and 10 rebounds. This was his first double-double of the season and his fourth as a Tar Heel. The 19 points also matched his season high (East Carolina) and the 10 rebounds are a season high.
• Tokoto hit a pair of three-pointers – the first basket by either team in both halves. This was the first game Tokoto made multiple threes since he did it for the first time in his career in consecutive games against UCLA and Florida in the Bahamas.
• Nate Britt has made a pair of three-pointers in each the last two games, including two second-half threes tonight. Prior to the UAB game, he had not made more than one three in his first 45 college games.
• Britt scored a season-high 11 points tonight, his second straight game in double figures and his third double-figure scoring game of the season. It marks the second time in his career he has scored in double figures in consecutive games (last year vs. Michigan State and UNCG).
• Kennedy Meeks played a season-low 14 minutes due to the effects of a stomach illness. Meeks came out of the game with 15:20 to play in the second half and did not return.
• Marcus Paige tied his season high with six assists (also vs. East Carolina and Kentucky).
• The Tar Heels led by 22 points at the half (49-27), their largest halftime lead of the season.
