June 23, 2026 | Men's Basketball
The Chicago Bulls selected North Carolina's Caleb Wilson with the fourth overall pick in the first round of the 2026 NBA Draft on Tuesday night.
Wilson is the 56th Tar Heel to be a first-round pick, third-most of any program in NCAA history. He is Carolina's first top-five draft pick since Marvin Williams (second) and Raymond Felton (fifth) in 2005.
Carolina and the NBA Draft
• Fifty-six Tar Heels have been selected in the first round of the NBA Draft, including freshman Drake Powell by Atlanta (for Brooklyn) in 2025 and Wilson in 2026.
• The 56 Tar Heels do not include three former UNC players who transferred and played at other schools prior to being selected in the draft.
• In total, 119 Tar Heels and three former UNC players have been selected in the NBA Draft.
• Wilson is the ninth Tar Heel freshman selected in the draft, all in the first round (Marvin Williams in 2005, Brandan Wright in 2007, Tony Bradley in 2017, Coby White and Nassir Little in 2019, Cole Anthony in 2020, Day'Ron Sharpe in 2021, Drake Powell in 2025 and Wilson).
• Carolina has the third-most drafted players and third-most first-round picks in the history of the NBA Draft.
• Prior to Wilson, the last time a Tar Heel was selected in the top five was 2005, when Williams went second to Atlanta and Raymond Felton was the fifth pick by Charlotte. Williams played 15 seasons in the NBA, while Felton played 14.
• Wilson is the third Tar Heel selected in the first round by the Chicago Bulls, joining Michael Jordan in 1984 (No. 3 overall) and Coby White in 2019 (No. 7 overall). Also, Shammond Williams was drafted by Chicago in the second round in 1998.
