Burkhardt and Hernandez Cruise On First Day of UVa Invitational

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - Joey Burkhardt and Jose Hernandez combined for four total wins on the first day of Virginia's Ranked + 1 Invitational, including a victory against a top-10 doubles team.
After winning their first doubles match, the pair defeated Tennessee's 7th-ranked team of J.P. Smith and Rhyne Williams to advance to the A-1 flight finals.
In the afternoon, both players recorded singles wins to advance in the A-3 flight. Burkhardt defeated Virginia's Santiago Villegas in straight sets, while Hernandez only lost three games in a win against Wisconsin's Ricardo Martin.
urkhardt and Hernandez will face Wake Forest's Iain Atkinson and Tripper Carleton in the doubles final on Saturday.
