Burkhardt and Hernandez Win UVA Doubles Championship

Charlottesville, Va - Joey Burkhardt and Jose Hernandez defeated Wake Forest's Tripper Carleton and Ian Atkinson to capture the Doubles Title at the UVA Ranked +1 Fall Invitational Saturday morning. Hernandez also advanced to the A-3 singles flight final with two straight set victories.
Burkhardt and Hernandez, playing for the first time together, defeated the #7 team in the country in route to the first Tar Heel championship of the fall. In singles Hernandez, ranked 30th nationally, defeated Virginia's Julien Ungen in the semfinals to advance to Sunday's final against Duke's Reid Carleton.
Carolina's William Parker also gathered two victories on Saturday. Parker outlasted Binghampton's 6-7, 6-4, 7-6 to earn his first victory over a nationally ranked player in his college career. Parker then beat ETSU's Sander Gille to advance to the finals of the A-3 consolation flight. Parker will face Arkansas' Matt Hogan Sunday at 12:30 pm.
