Tar Heels Open Penn Relays With Four Regional Marks

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - The North Carolina track and field teams opened up competition at the Penn Relays on Thursday and earned four regional qualifying marks. Colleen Farley tallied another regional mark in the 400-meter hurdles when she clocked a time of 1:00.81, while Lauren Holesh picked up her first regional mark in the 5000-meter run with a 16:42.97.
The Tar Heel relay teams were also in action on Thursday as both went on to earn regional marks. The 4x100-meter relay team posted a time of 45.61 for a 16th overall finish in the event. Meanwhile, the 4x400-meter relay team turned in their best effort of the year as they clocked a time of 3:42.18 for another regional qualifying mark. The distance medley relay team turned in an 11:07.77 performance on Thursday for a fifth place finish.
A pair of throwers were also in action on Thursday as Mary Angell and Kimberly Warren both competed in the shot put. Angell placed eighth in the championship division with a throw of 46-0 for her top mark of the year. Warren took home 10th in the college division with a toss of 44-8.
