
White Makes It Two Straight Penn Relays Discus Titles

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Senior Jocelyn White picked up her second consecutive Penn Relays title on Friday when she threw the discus 171-9 for the title. White earned the title at the prestigious Penn Relays with her best toss of the 2008 outdoor season to duplicate her effort from a year ago. Freshman Patience Coleman joined White with a regional mark as she cleared 5-10.5 in the high jump.
Also competing on Friday was the men's distance medley relay team that clocked a 10:01.29 as the group of John Curtiss, Charles Cox, Adam Smith and Adam Cunningham finished ninth overall. The 4x400-meter relay team of Ryan Booker, Cox, Ian Williamson and Reggie Berry combined to run a 3:12.54, which placed them 25th in the race.
Parker Smith finished fifth in the pole vault as he cleared 15-7 with his top attempt. Edward Baldwin III placed sixth in the long jump as he tallied a jump of 23-7.25. In other field action, Mary Angell joined White in the discus throw and finished ninth with a throw of 152-3, her second-best of the year.
The 114th Penn Relays will conclude on Saturday with another full day of events.
