No. 13 Tar Heels Fall At No. 7 Georgia Tech, 4-3

ATLANTA --- Fifth-ranked Jenna Long defeated seventh-ranked Kristi Miller at No. 1 singles, but No. 7 Georgia Tech was able to overcome losing the doubles point to defeat No. 13 North Carolina, 4-3, Saturday afternoon at the Bill Moore Tennis Center. UNC also got a three-set win from No. 55 Katrina Tsang at No. 2 singles as well as wins at Nos. 2 and 3 doubles.
Long and Sara Anundsen, the nation's 11th-ranked doubles tandem, opened doubles play with an 8-4 win over No. 8 Kristi Miller and Whitney McCray. After Alison Silverio and Amanda Craddock scored an 8-5 win at No. 2, Austin Smith and Meg Fanjoy clinched the doubles point with an 8-6 victory over Tarryn Rudman and Kirsten Flower.
No. 99 Craddock quickly evened the match with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Caitlin Collins at No. 3. Long's win over Miller gave UNC a 2-1 lead, but No. 44 Christy Striplin defeated No. 98 Smith 6-3, 6-3 to make it 2-all.
No. 75 Rudman gave the Yellow Jackets (14-4, 5-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) the lead for good with a 6-4, 2-6, 7-5 win over No. 51 Marand at No. 6. No. 55 Tsang would add a win over No. 116 Silverio to make the final score 4-3.
Carolina faces Clemson tomorrow afternoon.
