No. 7 Carolina Dominant Against No. 38 Indiana

CHAPEL HILL --- No. 7 North Carolina logged its fourth victory of the season over a ranked opponent with a 7-0 win over No. 38 Indiana Sunday afternoon at the Cone-Kenfield Indoor Tennis Center. The Tar Heels (9-2) won in straight sets at five of the six singles positions and once again swept the doubles point.
The All-America duo of Jenna Long and Sara Anundsen moved to 8-1 in dual match play with an 8-6 win over Alba Berdala and Laura McGaffigan at No. 1 doubles. No. 24 Caitlin Collins and Sanaz Marand defeated Sigrid Fischer and Cecile Perton at No. 2, 8-5, and Meg Fanjoy and Austin Smith topped Stephanie Heller and Brianna Williams, 8-3.
Long, the No. 7 player in the country, defeated No. 86 Berdala at No. 1 singles, 6-1, 6-4. The win was her ninth victory in her last 10 dual matches and made her 22-4 on the season.
No. 33 Smith needed a third-set tiebreaker to defeat McGaffigan at No. 2, prevailing 7-5, 2-6, 10-6. No. 19 Tsang topped Fischer 6-3, 6-4 at No. 3, while Anundsen won 6-3, 6-2 over Williams. Collins bested Perton 6-4, 7-5 at No. 5, while No. 73 Marand rounded out the sweet with a 6-1, 6-4 win over Lindsey Stuckey at No. 6.
Next up for the Tar Heels is a meeting with No. 3 Notre Dame on Friday. The Fighting Irish will be the fourth top-10 opponent for UNC so far in 2007.
