UNC Coach Anson Dorrance
On the victory:
"We're excited to be advancing. When we were up 3-0 at the half, we were still nervous because Tennessee never quits. I am very impressed with their fight. They never gave up. We scored nice goals tonight. We didn't have the same rhythm as last week, but there were moments and flashes. Our speed of play and decision making weren't as good as last week. I liked how after our first goal we didn't relax, but we kept trying to score. It was nice to score some goals. We are scoring in every phase of the offense. We attack on the flanks, have individual flair, an aerial game...a lot of weapons. We attack with balance."
On playing against Tennessee coach Angela Kelly, a former Tar Heel:
"She is a great coach. You play with mixed emotions because in a way you don't want to win by a large margin. You want to win, but not by a large margin."
On Heather O'Reilly's play:
"Heather's gone to another level. She is starting to peak. I thought she played her best last weekend, but she played better tonight than she did last weekend."
On the rematch with Texas A&M:
"We are thrilled to be playing them. We have a pretty good memory of how they played and how we played. We know their strengths. They are a blue-collar team just like us. It's like looking at your own reflection. It will be a barnburner of a game. We are more mature and sophisticated this time."
Freshman Midfielder Tobin Heath
On scoring early:
"It definitely helped. It's always good to get goals early. It allows us to settle and relax."
On Yael Averbuch:
"To praise Yael, I grew up in the same area. She is so patient and obedient. She was under the radar so you wondered what Yael was doing. She was training on her own and practicing with boys. I was glad when the rest of the world got to see her."
Tennessee Coach Angela Kelly:
On the game:
"I give a ton of credit to Anson. They punish you for your mistakes. I've known that beast. I helped create it. It's good to test yourself and this team is the best one to do that with."
On returning to her alma mater:
"It's always great to come back. I am always treated very well. I love to compete."
On using what she learned from Anson as a coach:
"I absolutely do. If the wheel's not broke don't fix it. The lessons I learned from Anson I do use with my team. He's a large part of my coaching philosophy."
