No. 9 UNC Women's Tennis Cruises In Doubleheader

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - Continuing to keep its home record perfect this season, the ninth-ranked North Carolina women's tennis team swept both UNC Wilmington and East Carolina 7-0 in Saturday's double-header at Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. The Tar Heels, now 9-0 at home, move to 11-3 on the season. UNC has swept five opponents this season.
Next up for UNC is a trip to Cambridge, Mass., on Saturday, March 5, when the Tar Heels will take on Harvard at 1 p.m. UNC will not play again at home until April 2.
In doubles, the nation's ninth-ranked team of Tar Heel seniors Kendall Cline and Aniela Mojzis cruised in both of their matches to move to 19-4.
At No. 2 doubles, sophomores Jenna Long and Caitlin Collins played for the first time together this season to defeat Mears/Molony of UNCW 8-5 and Bailey/Borges of ECU 8-3.
Freshman Charlotte Tansill teamed with fellow freshman Alexandra Jurewitz at No. 3 doubles to defeat UNCW's Martin/Wyeth 8-4. Tansill paired with junior Tanja Markovic later in the day to cruise to an 8-2 victory over the Pirates' Baicu/Alex Smith.
In singles, the Tar Heels won 11 of the 12 matches in straight sets. Cline, Mojzis, Long, Collins and Tansill all went 2-0 on the day. Markovic and Jurewitz each posted one win for Carolina.
