
Carolina Men's Tennis Team Runs Winning Streak To Seven Matches

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - For the second straight match the 52nd ranked North Carolina men's tennis team rallied from a loss of the doubles point, this time winning all six singles matches to defeat No. 57 Virginia Tech 6-1 Friday night in an indoor match at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
Tar Heels Nick Monroe, Andy Metzler, Raian Luchici, Brad Pomeroy and Geoff Boyd all won their singles matches in straight sets and in the process improved their dual match records this spring to 7-0. Metzler's 6-1, 6-1 win over Soren Spanner at No. 2 singles was his 11th successive win in singles play dating back to four wins in the Atlantic Coast Conference Indoor Championships in January.
Carolina (7-0) will play host to No. 12 Virginia Commonwealth Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center. Virginia Tech fell to 4-3 with the loss.
