Tar Heel Softball Splits Games In Gainesville

GAINESVILLE, Fla.-The University of North Carolina softball team split a pair of games against Florida International Saturday at the Gator Classic, winning the first game 3-2 and falling 6-0 in the second. The Tar Heels (1-3) will face South Florida Sunday morning in the tournament consolation game.
Junior Tiffany Tolleson went 2-for-3 in the win and UNC got RBIs from Quinn Porter, Emily Price and Dionne Streete. Freshmen Ashley Allen, Erica Ennis and Brandi Griffin split time on the mound, with Griffin earning the win.
In the day's second game, FIU totalled 17 hits to win 6-0.
Carolina will face South Florida at 10:30 a.m. Sunday before returning home to Chapel Hill. UNC fell 2-0 to the Bulls on Friday in the first game of the tournament.
