CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. - UNC's women's tennis team dropped its second ACC road match in as many days Sunday, falling to Virginia by a score of 6-3.
The Tar Heels, who were again without No. 1 player Marlene Mejia in singles play, only captured one singles point. Freshman Kendrick Bunn earned her second win of the weekend, rallying to top the Cavaliers' Leslie Cook at No. 4 (0-6, 6-2, 6-0).
Mejia and junior Erin Niebling bested Cook and Christie Schweer at No. 1 doubles by a score of 8-6, and the Carolina duo of senior Jessica Zaganczyk and junior Courtney Zalinski was victorious at No. 3 (8-2).
With the loss the Heels drop to 9-10 overall and 2-4 in ACC play. No. 37 Carolina has yet to win outside of Chapel Hill this season. No. 60 UVA improves to 12-8 on the season with the win.
The Tar Heels next action is Thursday when they host ACC-leader Wake Forest at 5 p.m. at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center.
