GAME NOTES
*North Carolina leads the series 8-2-2 over Notre Dame after Friday's victory.
*Notre Dame hasn't defeated UNC since 1996, when the Irish defeated North Carolina 2-1 in overtime in a regular season game at Durham, N.C. The only other Notre Dame win was in the 1995 NCAA semifinals, 1-0 at Chapel Hill.
*The last meeting between the two teams was in the 1999 NCAA Championship game, also at Spartan Stadium, when the Tar Heels won 2-0.
*UNC had never been faced with a halftime deficit this season before tonight's game.
*When playing at neutral sites this year North Carolina is now 7-0 while Notre Dame is now 1-1.
*UNC freshman midfieldedr Jordan Walker recorded her fourth goal of the season on the game winner. It was the first game-winning goal of her career.
*Tonight's goal marked the first for UNC's Kim Patrick since October 29 when UNC defeated Maryland 6-0 at Fetzer Field.
*This was the first time all season that Notre Dame has given up more than one goal in a game.
*North Carolina now has a tournament record of 65-3 all-time and is riding a nine-game NCAA Tournament winning streak into Sunday's championship match. The last time the Tar Heels lost a n NCAA Tournament game was in the 1998 championship game to Florida by a 1-0 margin.
*In the tournament's 19-year history, North Carolina has advanced to the final game 18 times. The only other time that Carolina failed to make the finals was in 1995 when Notre Dame defeated the Tar Heels in the semifinals.
*This was Notre Dame's first loss since the 1999 championship game. The Irish's first last two losses have come at the hand of the Tar Heels.
