Recap
The Tar Heels win was their 15th NCAA Championship in the last 18 years. Carolina also won the AIAW title in 1981.
Carolina is now 7-2-2 lifetime against Notre Dame, including a 3-0 record in NCAA Finals.

Heels are 61-3 overall in NCAA competition.
Carolina's six seniors finish with 3 NCAA Championships, 4 ACC Championships and an overall record of 101-4-1.
The Tar Heels won their last 18 games of the season.
Carolina outshot its opponent in every game this year.
21 of 26 of UNC's matches were against teams that played in the NCAA Tournament.
The Heels shut out 10 of their last 11 opponents. This streak coincides with Lorrie Fair's movement to full-time defensive player.
Sunday was only the second time this season that Notre Dame was shut out. SMU topped the Irish 1-0 on Sept. 19.
A total of 28,416 fans attended the two tournament sessions.
The Tar Heels outscored their opponents 37-10 in the first half of games this season and a whopping 54-2 in the second half of their games.
In 21 seasons North Carolina has a 466-19-11 record while outscoring their opponents 2,194 to 215.
