Lexi Weger
- Title:
- Video Coordinator/Graduate Assistant
Lexi Weger, was named as an assistant coach with Carolina women's basketball following two seasons as a graduate assistant.
“I am deeply humbled and honored to be named an assistant coach of the North Carolina’s Women’s Basketball program. Having served as graduate assistant and then video coordinator during these past two years I’ve experienced, firsthand, the level of commitment from everyone in this program to building on a legacy of excellence. I’m grateful for every opportunity that has come my way and am ready to be a part of pursuing bold milestones and reaching new heights,” said Weger. “To step into my first assistant coaching role with this caliber of program is a privilege I do not take lightly. I want to thank Coach Banghart for her trust and mentorship. I look forward to working alongside the extraordinary coaches and staff and with this immensely talented team that is Carolina Basketball.”
“Promoting Lexi was an easy and unanimous decision for our staff. Her "figure it out" mindset, diligent and thoughtful eye for scouting, and ability to use film as an effective teaching tool have already made a significant impact,” said Banghart. “Add to that, her relentless work ethic and reliability, and it’s clear why she’s earned this coveted role.”
She joined the staff in 2023 after graduating from Princeton University with a degree in psychology. Weger played basketball at Princeton, where she was a four-time Ivy League champion. Her senior thesis was titled "Yes, Coach! Examining Athlete Willingness to Receive Critical Feedback from their Head Coach."
Weger was elevated from graduate assistant to video coordinator in June of 2025, after earning her Masters in Sport Administration from Carolina.
During her undergraduate experience, Weger worked for Princeton's Sports Marketing department and was the president of the school's Athlete Ally chapter. During her summers, she interned with the NBA as an International Commercial Strategy & Development Intern, as well as with NBC Sports Group, where she served as a Digital Production Assistant for the Tokyo Summer Olympics.
