Career Notes: Appeared in a total of 91 career matches, 256 sets, after sitting out her true freshman season in 2012 • Totaled 463 kills, 181 blocks and 67 digs with a lifetime .258 hitting percentage • Came in as a middle blocker but transitioned to opposite hitter early in her career • In certain rotations, would remain in the middle for a quick set after a great pass before rotating to the right pin • Missed the majority of 2015 with an injury, but returned as a fifth-year senior to finish with the strongest season of her career.
2016 (RS Senior): Appeared in all-but-one match (32), making 12 starts in 104 sets • Came back from injury to have the best season of her career, hitting .273 with 173 kills, 73 blocks and 37 digs • Posted the best hitting percentage in an NCAA Tournament match in program history, hitting .565 with a season-high 14 kills and just one error against Coastal Carolina • Her efficient hitting was influential in setting a new team postseason record with a .310 team attack percentage against the Chanticleers in the Second Round • More than tripled her career high with seven digs against High Point in the NCAA First Round • Hit .500 with nine kills and no errors against Clemson (11/11) to help UNC post the second-highest match hitting percentage (.489) in the rally-scoring era • Made two or fewer hitting errors in 24 of 32 matches played.
2015 (RS Junior): An explosive opposite hitter who played in the first eight matches of the year before suffering a season-ending injury against Michigan State on Sept. 18 • Totaled 49 kills, 21 blocks and five digs over 26 sets • Started the season on a high note with 10 kills at then-No. 22 USC, who would go on to rank No. 1 for the majority of the season • Put up a career-high 19 kills with five blocks against UNCW • Was hitting .400 with four kills and a block in the next match against the Spartans when she went down with the injury.
2014 (RS Sophomore): Played as one of UNC’s most efficient attackers off the bench • Appeared in 57 sets in 28 matches • Notched 100 kills (1.75/set) hitting .274 • Knocked down a season high 11 vs. VCU (9/13/14) • Turned the momentum vs. Kentucky (9/12) with six kills in the final two sets • Posted eight kills and five blocks vs. Oklahoma (9/19) • Recorded 5+ kills in eight matches.
2013 (RS Freshman): Had a breakout season after redshirting in 2012 • Played in 69 sets and 23 matches, starting 11 • Tallied 141 total kills (2.04/set) hitting .273 • Recorded a career-high 18 kills vs. Maryland (11/24) and posted five blocks vs. George Washington (9/13) and vs. Virginia (11/16) • Named Most Improved Player for 2013-14 and earned the Mighty Ram team award.
2012 (Freshman): Redshirted the 2012 season.
Prep: Recorded 998 kills and 252 blocks at South Central High School • Set SCHS career kills and blocks records • Two-time 3A Coastal Conference Player of the Year • Named to all-conference team three times • Also ran on the track team for four years at South Central • Member of the state record-setting 4x100 team • Member of 2011 state championship basketball team and was a two-time state champion in track.
Personal: Born Hayley Noelle McCorkle on Sept. 20 in Greenville, N.C. • Daughter of Keith and Michele McCorkle • Older sister ran track at the University of South Carolina • Was a member of six clubs in high school: FCCLA, Career Tech, Health Science Academy, Key Club, SPED and National Honors Society • Majoring in exercise and sport science.
