General: Showed great improvement and will provide valuable depth for the Tar Heels in the butterfly and IM events…a versatile swimmer who was coached by Paul Silver at the Raleigh Swimming Association...drove three hours roundtrip every day to train and swim there from his sophomore year through graduation...said he would get lost at least twice a week...a junior nationals qualifier in the 100 and 200 fly and the 200 and 400 IM...1999 Capital Classic champion in the 200 IM...selected for the 1999 USA Dynamics Team which went to Holland...1999 European summer meet champ in 100 fly and 100 breast.
1999-2000: At the 1999 Nike Cup, finished fifth in the 200 fly (1:52.27), 13th in the 100 fly and eigth in the 200 IM…At the 2000 ACC Championships, turned in a personal best in the 100 fly (50.92)…ACC Academic Honor Roll…compiled a 3.004 GPA his freshman year.
Prep: Graduated from the Arendell Parrott Academy on May 28, 1999...swam all four years of high sachool and ran cross country as a sophomore and a senior...was high school captain and MVP all four years...won seven N.C.I.S.A.A. state titles...News & Observer All-Star for four years...1998 and 1999 selection to Who's Who American High School Athletes...12-time YMCA All-America selection...team captain his junior and senior years of Capital YMCA team...senior Beta Club member grades 10 through 12...academic marshall as ninth and 11th grader...member of French, SERV and FCA clubs...an Eagle Scout...recipient of Stubbs Christian scholarship...was a Morehead Scholarship nominee at Carolina...SGA treasurer his senior year...school honor councilman his senior year.
Personal: Given name is Warren Seipp Perry, III…nicknames include "Breezer," "Wump" and "Crazy Warren"...has one brother...is the grandson of Warren Perry, Sr., who was also a swimmer at Carolina...is the son of Wes and Stewart Perry…his mother played varsity tennis at UNC...was born February 24, 1981 in Kinston, N.C....hobbies include the singing, playing the guitar and sailing…moonlights as a National Anthem singer…his renditions of the Star Bangled Banner were amongst the highlights of the 2000 ACC Swimming Championships in Chapel Hill...athlete he most admires is Josh Davis…considers N Sync and Plus One as his heroes...biggest sports thrill has been just being consistent in North Carolina Swimming over the past dozen years...communications and history double major...aspires to be a teacher and coach…gives an enormous amount of time back to his community…actively involved in UNC Athletes in Action and Fellowship of Christian Athletes…is a senior high youth leader at the Chapel Hill Bible Church…also serves as an Athletes Coming Together mentor
