2019-20 (Junior): Appeared in all 10 meets in the floor lineup • Matched her career-best floor score (9.875) for a third-place finish in the senior day meet against George Washington • Scored no less than 9.650 all season • Remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic • ACC Academic Honor Roll • Named to the EAGL All-Academic team.
2018-19 (Sophomore): Competed in every meet for the Tar Heels on floor and all but two meets in beam • Named to the second-team All-EAGL on floor • Named to the second-team All-Tournament team on floor • Set a career high on beam at NC State on 2/16 with a score of 9.725 • Finished the season with five top-five finishes on floor • Scored 9.850 or better three times on floor.
2017-18 (Freshman): Appeared in nine meets for the Tar Heels • Competed in five matches on beam • Made two exhibition performances on vault against NC State and Temple • Performed officially nine times on floor • Set a personal best on floor in the first meet of the season scoring a 9.825 against NC State • Matched that score twice more, once against Nevada and once against Oklahoma • Topped her career best against Brown with a 9.875 on floor • Matched that score in the EAGL Championships • Earned Dean’s List Honors at Carolina for the spring of 2018.
Prep: Received her gymnastics training at Brestyan’s Gymnastics in Burlington, Mass. throughout her high school career • Attended North Andover High School • State champion in 2013 and 2015 • State champion on floor exercise in 2017 • Two-time Junior Olympic national qualifier • Regional champion on floor exercise in 2016.
Personal: Daughter of Kevin and Jill Dean • Full name is Lily Marie Dean • Birthday is January 23 • Born in Livingston, NJ • Named to the Honor Roll in high school • Father, Kevin, played in the NHL and is now an Assistant Coach for the Boston Bruins.
