Ratiu & Xu Advance In Qualifying Draw At ITA All-American Championship

TULSA, OKLA.—North Carolina's doubles team of Niels Ratiu and Chris Xu won its initial match in the doubles qualifying draw at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association All-American Championship on Monday at the Michael D. Case Tennis Center.
Ratiu and Xu, ranked No. 32 in the preseason ITA doubles rankings, topped Ilyas Milad Fahim and Carson Baker of Virginia Tech in straight sets, 6-1, 6-0 in the qualifying draw round of 32. They advance to Tuesday's round of 16 in Tulsa.
Meanwhile, Florida's No. 41-ranked duo of Henry Jefferson and Ty Host defeated Carolina's Will Mayew and Sebastian Sec in the round of 32 in a third-set tiebreak, 6-1, 4-6, 1-0 (10-5).
