Hijikata & Kiger Set To Play In Wimbledon Doubles Main Draw
June 26, 2026 | Men's Tennis
Former North Carolina men's tennis stars Rinky Hijikata and Mac Kiger both are set to play in the main draw of the Wimbledon Gentlemen's Doubles bracket starting early next week. Both Hijikata and Kiger were members of the 2021 Tar Heel team that won the ITA Indoor National Championships, and both have enjoyed stellar professional success after leaving Carolina for the pro ranks.
Kiger & fellow American Patrik Trhac will play France's Quentin Halys and Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the first round. The winner could meet the top-seeded duo of Finland's Harri Heliovaara and Great Britain's Henry Patten in the second round.
Hijikata and fellow Australian Marc Polmans will meet Germany's 16th-seeded team of Jakob Schnaitter and Mark Wallner in the first round. Hijikata reached the Wimbledon doubles final in 2025 while teaming with Daavid Pel and won the 2023 Australian Open doubles title with Jason Kubler.
Hijikata has risen to his highest ATP ranking in almost a year after reaching the quarterfinals of the ATP 500 tournament at Queen's Club last week. He jumped 21 spots to world No. 83. Kiger has been ranked as high as No. 76 earlier this year.
