Tar Heels Welcome Cade Bennerman To Men's Basketball Program

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—Cade Bennerman, a 7-0, red-shirt freshman center from Nashville, Tenn., is joining the UNC men's basketball program this season.

Bennerman red-shirted last year at Northwestern.

He averaged 13.6 points, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 2025, when he led Father Ryan High School to a 21-win season, the program's most wins in 16 seasons. Bennerman was the Region Tournament MVP after leading Father Ryan to the DII-AA Middle Region title.

He earned all-state honors from the Tennessee Sports Writers Association.
