CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – There's no place like home, as North Carolina women's basketball has signed Chapel Hill native Gabby White for the 2026-27 season. The 5-10 guard returns to the Tar Heel state after spending one season at Virginia.
White played in 34 games for the Cavaliers, making three starts in her debut campaign as Virginia reached the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2000. Posting eight games in double-figure scoring, White was key for UVA in its 3OT win against Wake Forest with a career-high 22 points and 12 rebounds. She also matched her career high with six assists against the Demon Deacons and dished out four or more dimes in six games as a freshman.
Overall, White wrapped her freshman season averaging 6.1 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 44.3% from the floor.
A four-star prospect out of Seaforth High School, White was ranked No. 94 in ESPN's HoopGurlz Top 100 rankings for the Class of 2025. At Seaforth, White recorded 1,975 points and over 1,100 rebounds throughout her prep career and was named a four-time conference player of the year.
The homegrown product joins the Tar Heels with three years of eligibility remaining, as Carolina enters next season coming off 14 conference wins, the most in a season since 2012-13, and a total of 28 victories.
