Carolina Bolsters Interior Presence With Addition Of Achol Akot

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – With its first offseason acquisition, North Carolina women's basketball has announced the addition of Achol Akot for the 2026-27 campaign. The 6-1 forward spent the past season at Oklahoma State, averaging 12.4 points and 7.2 rebounds per game for the Cowgirls.
In three seasons of collegiate action between UCF and Oklahoma State, Akot is averaging 8.3 points and 6.6 rebounds per game in her career. This last season in Stillwater was the best of the Ontario, Canada, native's career, with 21 games in double figures and six double-doubles after starting in all 34 games.
Akot's game reached a new level as a junior, with six 20-point performances, including a career-high 28 points in the first round of the NCAA Tournament against Princeton.
Earning All-Big 12 Honorable Mention, Akot shot 63.3% from the floor during the 2025-26 season, ranking sixth nationally and second in the conference.
The 6-1 forward also boasts international experience, playing with Canada on the 2025 FIBA 3X3 World Tour in Vienna.
Akot joins a Tar Heel squad coming off a 28-win campaign and its second straight Sweet 16 for their third overall in the past five seasons.
