Carolina Track Has Great Showing At Split Weekend

TAMPA, FLA /DURHAM, N.C - Carolina track and field sets six all-time marks split between Duke University and South Florida University.

Kosi Umerah opened the weekend with a massive personal best mark by over two meters at the Duke Invitational. Umerah (63.55m) holds the fifth farthest throw in the country.
The entire men's 1500m field of seven runners ran either a personal best or season best time, led by Aiden Neal (3:39.84), who won the race in a field made up of 123 runners.Â
Makayla Paige (4:12.03) and Sydney Masciarelli (4:12.65)Â closed out the first day at Duke by moving up the all-time record book in the women's 1500m, as the duo is now fourth and fifth all-time, with Paige leaving with the Duke Invitational meet record.
On the final day at Duke, Henry Strand (1:48.48) highlighted the competition with a personal best time in the 800m as he moved into eighth all-time.

Making his Carolina record book debut, Nick Pennington (5.16m) entered the top ten in the men's pole vault at ninth all-time.
Aaliyah Berry (13.09) has moved up Carolina's 100m hurdles all-time record in both meets this outdoor season, as Berry won the race in Florida and is now third all-time.Â
