Women’s Swimming & Diving Finishes Seventh, Men Eighth At ACC Championships

2026 ACC Swimming & Diving Championships Meet Results

ATLANTA, Ga. – University of North Carolina swimming and diving program wrapped up the ACC Championships on Saturday with the women's team finishing seventh (522.5) and the men's squad placing eighth (572.5). Lily Reader was Saturday's top finisher for the women, finishing sixth in the 1,650 freestyle, while moving to No. 8 all-time at Carolina with a time of 16:15.41. Ben Delmar had the top finish for the men with a sixth place in the 200 breast (1:52.32).

David Melnychuk turned in a huge day, posting school records in the 200 back during both prelims and finals. He finished 12th in the event with the new record of 1:49.46. JT Schmid moved to No. 2 all-time at UNC in the event to finish 18th at 1:40.63. After setting the school record in the 200 back during prelims, Sophia Frei placed eighth overall with a time of 1:51.46. Emma Karam and Maren Conze scored in the event finishing 13th and 15th respectively.

Xavier Ruiz improved his personal best to finish ninth in the 200 breast. He improved on his No. 2 all-time position with a 1:52.65. Carter Freudenstein moved to No. 5 all-time in the event with a 1:54.94 to finish 20th. Sean Setzer finished off an excellent meet by moving to No. 2 all-time in the 100 freestyle. His time of 42.25 was good for 17th place in the event. Josh Parent had his best performance as a Tar Heel to move to No. 6 all-time in the 1,650 freestyle with a time of 15:03.65.

Next up, the divers will compete at the NCAA Zones starting on March 8 in Athens, Ga. and the swimmers will continue their push to postseason glory with the NCAA Championships starting on March 18.
