Wrestling Falls At No. 6 Virginia Tech, 29-9

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Sixth-ranked Virginia Tech won eight bouts on the night, defeating No. 13 North Carolina, 29-9, Friday evening in Atlantic Coast Conference wrestling action.
With the loss, the Tar Heels drop to 9-4, and 2-3 in conference matchups.
The Tar Heels posted a second-period fall courtesy of Nick O'Neill (141) and a sudden-victory decision from Collin Carrigan (174) on the night.
O'Neill's fall was the first ACC victory of his career, defeating No. 22 Tom Crook. Following Friday's dual, the Philadelphia product has a team-best six falls on the campaign.
At 174-pounds, Carrigan earned the takedown in overtime against No. 30 Sergio Desainte, to secure his first dual and ACC win of the season.
Up next, Carolina returns to Carmichael Arena for the regular season finale, hosting Stanford on Friday. Action between the Tar Heels and Cardinal gets underway at 7 PM, with the dual airing on ACCNX.
