
Men’s Cross Country Runs Away To First Place Finish At Adidas XC Challenge, Women Place Second

CARY, N.C. – Racing in its second meet of the season, North Carolina Men's and Women's Cross Country notched five top-five finishes at the adidas XC Challenge in Cary.
On the men's side, five out of seven entrants finished second through sixth to finish first as a team with 15 points. Freshman Joe Barrett (17:58.0) led the way in his collegiate debut to come through in second in Cary. A mere second behind came Aiden Neal (17:58.2), Colton Sands (17:58.6), Will Coogan (17:58.6) and Tomer Tarragano (17:58.7).
Ciara O'Shea (16:37.0) paced the women with a sixth-place finish, with Logan St. John-Kletter (16:57.1) joining her in the top-10 in 10th. As a team, the women finished second overall with 62 points, narrowly besting third-place South Carolina with 63 points.
The Tar Heels are back in action on Oct. 3, taking a trip to the Windy City for the Loyola Lake Front Invitational in Chicago.
