CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - North Carolina track and field is ready to compete in the 2025 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships at Hayward Stadium in Eugene, Oregon, on Wednesday, June 11th through Saturday, June 14th. The live results can be found on Flash Results. The meet will be broadcast on ESPN +.
Taryn Parks (4:09.84) and Sydney Masciarelli are making their outdoor NCAA track and field championships debut in the women's 1,500m and 3,000m steeplechase respectively. Parks competed at this year's Indoor Championships on the DMR squad that finished ninth in the country. Masciarelli started the season outside of Carolina's all-time top ten, and she moved up the list every race as she became the school record holder at the NCAA Division I East First Round with a time of 9:48.12.
Tommy Kitchell and Kate Joyce are making their third national championships appearance. This is Kitchell's first outdoor appearance. Kitchell has swept the ACC Conference Championships in the men's shot put in his one year on the team as he set the school record during the ACC Outdoor Championships (20.18m). Joyce finished in third in the women's javelin at this year's ACC Championships. Joyce won four straight meets after she threw the second farthest throw in program history (55.40m).
Ethan Strand is making his third appearance at the NCAA Division I Outdoor Track & Field Championships and sixth overall. The Indoor National Track Athlete of the Year is looking to wrap up his historic season by racing in the 1,500m (3:33.22) and 5k (13:37.35, SB). This year, Strand has broken two NCAA records indoors and holds the second-fastest outdoor 1,500m time in NCAA history (3:33.22). Strand has been on every single edition of the Bowerman watch list this season as he and Parker Wolfe have combined for the second most appearances by a men's program at twelve times this season.
Colton Sands is making his second NCAA Championship appearance of the year and career; he will run in the 5k (13:31.62, SB) this week. Sands also ran in the 3,000m during this year's indoor championships. Â
Makayla Paige is making her second outdoor championship appearance in as many years in the women's 800m. Paige finished 14th in this race last year. Paige won the national championship indoors this season.
