Women's Golf 8th In NCAA Norman Regional

North Carolina dropped three spots to eighth place Tuesday after playing its third and final round in the NCAA Women's Golf Norman Regional at the Jimmie Austin OU Golf Club in Norman, Okla.
The top-five teams in the field of 12 advanced to the NCAA Championship May 16-21 in Carlsbad, Calif. Number-one ranked Stanford won the regional first at 23-under-par 841, while Northwestern (14 under), Michigan State (1 under), Oklahoma (even par) Baylor (3 over) secured the other four spots to advance.
Tulsa was sixth at 15 over, Oregon State placed seventh at 18 over, and the Tar Heels shot 291-287-306 to finish eighth at 20 over par.
Furman (ninth at +33), Denver (10th at +36), Duke (11th at +38) and Southern Miss (12th at +43) were among six teams that finished Wednesday morning after play was suspended Tuesday due to darkness.
Freshman Helen Yeung (72-71-74) led UNC in the final round with a 2-over 74 to tie for 14th at 1-over 217.
Stanford's Andrea Revuelta was the individual medalist at 8-under 208 after rounds of 68-73-67.
