Gaetino Called In For U-20 Women’s National Team Camp
May 22, 2025 | Women's Soccer
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – University of North Carolina women's soccer defender Bella Gaetino has been called-in for the U-20 Women's National Team Training Camp, the federation announced on Thursday. Gaetino was one of 24 top college-aged players selected for the camp, which will take place in Fayetteville, Ga. May 26 – June 2.
While the USA is also competing in the 2025 Concacaf Women's U-20 Championship in Costa Rica during this FIFA window with a team of players born in 2006 and 2007, this squad of players heading to Georgia were all born in 2005, making them too old for the next FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup. To that end, this programming for the 2005s will allow them to continue their growth in the U.S. WNT programs with hopes of moving along the pathway to U.S. U-23 WNT and beyond.
Gaetino was one of three freshmen who saw action in every game last season for the Tar Heels and the defender started 25 matches. She earned All-ACC Freshman Team and TopDrawerSoccer Freshman Best XI Second Team honors, while helping the Heels to the national title. Gaetino scored five goals and helped anchor a back line which limited opponents to 8.0 shots per game and 3.8 shots on goal per game, and only conceded one goal throughout the NCAA Tournament with zero goals allowed in the College Cup.
