Niels Ratiu Signs With Men’s Tennis For 2025-26

CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—In another positive step toward the 2025-26 season, the University of North Carolina men's tennis team has signed Niels Ratiu, a talented transfer from the University of Georgia, to join the Tar Heel program.
"We can't wait for Niels to join our team," head coach Sam Paul says. "He has an electric game, and he was a two-year starter in both singles and doubles for Georgia. When you add Niels and [fellow transfer] Roan Jones to our tremendous incoming freshman class, we're very excited about our team for next year."
Ratiu, from Liège, Belgium, competed as a sophomore at Georgia in 2024-25 and entered the NCAA Championship this Spring ranked No. 38 in doubles with partner Freddy Blaydes. He played at No. 5 singles and No. 1 and 2 doubles for the Bulldogs.
He went 21-15 in singles as a freshman in 2023-24 and 20-13 this season for a career mark of 41-28. He also boasts a 45-30 doubles record in two seasons in Athens. As a prep player, he was ranked the No. 4 U18 player in Belgium.
