April 26, 2025 | Track & Field
CHARLOTTE, N.C./ LOUISVILLE, Ky./ PHILADELPHIA, Pa- North Carolina track and field wrapped up Penn Relays by winning a prestigious wheel in the women's 4x800m relay on Saturday, April 26.
For the first time in over two decades, the women's 4x800m relay team (8:20.24) won a wheel at the Penn Relays. The quartet of runners was made up of Makayla Paige, Taryn Parks, Alyssa Hernandez, and Sydney Masciarelli. The team shattered the school record by six seconds and won by more than a second.
The men's 4xmile race at Penn Relay featured four of the best distance teams in the country: Virginia, Villanova, Washington, and Carolina. The first two runners, Aiden Neal and Colton Sands, kept the Tar Heels in the lead pack, which set Parker Wolfe up to hold the lead from a surging Villanova. The bell lap featured Ethan Strand, who had one final kick that ultimately fell short. Carolina took third, as the top four were only separated by a second or less.
The men's 400m and 400m hurdles dominated in Charlotte. Killian Fahy (46.23) won the 400m and moved into seventh all-time. Trevor Paschall (46.91) took second with a PR and Nick Steed (47.25) finished in fourth. James Rivera (51.32) won the hurdles in his Carolina outdoor debut.
