Pierce's Seven RBI Power Softball Past Charlotte, 11-1
April 2, 2025 | Softball
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – It was a career night for senior Kiannah Pierce, who ended the game with a run-rule walk off three run home run into the night sky to cap off the 11-1 win over Charlotte.
Â
Lexie Roberts got the game started with a bang when she slapped a leadoff triple over the left fielder's head. Two batters later Kat Rodriguez did what she's done all year, drive in runs. Her single in the first made it 1-0. Pierce kept the first inning party rolling with a two-run double into left center.
Â
In the second inning Alex Coleman plated Bryten Burns to go up 4-0. Then Sanaa Thompson set the new single season program record for sacrifice flies with her sixth of the season to go up 5-0. Next batter was Pierce and this time she laced a two-RBI double into right center field to score Coleman and Roberts.
Â
In the fourth, Rayna Blackwell came in to pinch hit and sent an RBI single through the left side to make it an 8-0 ball game.
Â
After Charlotte staved off a run-rule defeated by scoring in the fifth, Pierce had enough and smacked her fourth home run of the season to run-rule Charlotte 11-1.
Â
Lexie Roberts and Kiannah Pierce went a combined 8-8 with seven RBI, three runs, two doubles, four singles, a triple, and a home run.
Â
UNC now turns its attention to Duke who they play on the road Friday-Sunday.
