Men's Tennis Rolls Past BC, 4-0, To Advance In ACCs

The ninth-seeded Tar Heels improved to 13-10 this season, snapped their four-match losing streak and advanced to Thursday's ACC second round against No. 8 seed Clemson. The Eagles saw their season come to an end at 5-14.
Diego Jarry and Anthony Wright raced to a 6-1 win at No. 2 doubles to start the afternoon. Vladislav Melnic and Xu clinched the doubles point with a 7-6 (4) win at No. 1 doubles.
In singles action, the Tar Heels grabbed first-set wins at all six lineup positions. Nick Mangiapane was the first to win his match, taking a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Connor McDonald at the No. 6 slot for a 2-0 UNC lead. Minutes later, Wright took down Mai Gao, 7-5, 6-0, at No. 4 to make the score 3-0.
Xu, playing his first career match at No. 2 singles, topped Andrew Ilie, 6-4, 6-2, to clinch the team victory and send Carolina to the second round.
