Federal Way, Wash. – The University of North Carolina women's swimming and diving program scored 57 points to finish 17th at the NCAA Championships, equaling its 17th-place finish last season. Swimmers Sophia Frei, Mary Macaulay, Georgia Nel, Greer Pattison, Skyler Smith and Elizabeth Sowards earned points for the Tar Heels, while Aranza Vázquez Montaño and Lanie Gutch scored for the divers.

One of the greatest to ever do it, Vázquez Montaño, closed out her illustrious career by earning Honorable Mention All-America honors on the platform. She finished third in the consolation final with 304.95 points after finishing fifth overall at 3-meters and fourth on the 1-meter. Vázquez Montaño leaves Chapel Hill as one of the most decorated divers in NCAA and ACC history. The two-time Olympian won four National Championships and eight ACC Titles during her career as a Tar Heel.

Also scoring on Saturday night, Frei earned a point for Carolina in the 200 back with an eighth-place finish in the 200 back consolation final. She moved to No. 2 all-time at UNC in the event during prelims with a 1:51.69.

During prelims, Macaulay set a personal best of 1:54.38 in the 200 fly to move to No. 3 all-time at UNC, while Sowards entered the Top 10 at No. 9 in the 100 free with a personal-best 48.57.
