McNeil Earns All-America Status On Day Two Of NCAA Championships

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – North Carolina wrestling 149-pounder Lachlan McNeil battled back from a quarterfinal loss with two-straight consolation bracket victories, earning All-America status.

McNeil became the sixth Tar Heel with three-or-more All-America honors, joining Jan Michaels, Rob Koll, TJ Jaworsky, Justin Harty and Austin O'Connor.

After falling in the quarterfinals to third-ranked Shayne Van Ness (Penn State), the redshirt-junior followed with a decision and major decision in the evening to earn the podium finish.
Â
With McNeil's All-America effort, the program has posted at least one All-America wrestler in seven-straight national tournaments.

To begin consolation bracket action, Spencer Moore defeated Ohio State's Brendan McCrone by decision, dropping the ensuing bout by major decision.

Ethan Oakley (133), Jayden Scott (141), Joshua Ogunsanya (174) and Gavin Kane (184) all fell in the second consolation round by decision.
