Gutch Wins Bronze, Vázquez Montaño Places Fourth In NCAA 1-Meter

Federal Way, Wash. – University of North Carolina diving placed 3-4 on the 1-meter springboard at the NCAA Women's Championships on Thursday night. In her first national meet, Lanie Gutch earned a bronze medal, while Aranza Vázquez Montaño claimed All-America honors for the third straight year. UNC currently sits in 15th place with 34 points.
Gutch qualified fourth out of prelims, but used a 330.80 in the finals to secure the third-place finish. Vázquez Montaño was third coming out of prelims and scored 322 points over six dives in the final to place fourth.
In the pool, Mary Macaulay set the school record in the 200 IM with a 1:55.46 during prelims, bettering the previous mark of 1:55.59 by Caroline Hauder in 2020. She claimed Honorable Mention All-America honors after finishing 16th in the event.
