CHAPEL HILL, N.C.—Fifth-ranked Virginia won the doubles point and five of six singles matches, beating North Carolina, 6-1, on the Cone-Kenfield Indoor Courts at the Chewning Tennis Center on Sunday afternoon. The teams played inside due to cold weather in the area prior to the match.
With the victory, Virginia improved to 9-3, 1-1 in the Atlantic Coast Conference. Carolina fell to 7-4, 1-1.
The Cavaliers grabbed the doubles point with wins at the No. 2 and No. 1 positions. Janjun Kim and Ty Switzer beat Patrick Schoen and Anthony Wright, 6-3, at No. 2, then 38th-ranked James Hopper and Keegan Rice topped Vladislav Melnic and Chris Xu, 6-4.
In singles play, Mans Dahlberg beat Nick Mangiapane, 6-2, 6-2, at No. 5 to give UVA at 2-0 lead. Melnic followed with a 6-3, 6-3 win at the No. 2 slot over Rice to cut the Cavalier lead to 2-1, but the Cavs won the last four singles matches to close out the day.
Tar Heel Dennis Perumov made his second career appearance in a dual match, slotting in at No. 6 singles.

• The Tar Heels will begin a four-match road swing next weekend at Louisville (Friday March 7) and Notre Dame (Sunday March 9).
