Gymnastics Hosts Western Michigan For Senior Night

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – No. 24 North Carolina gymnastics will host Western Michigan for its regular season finale on Friday, March 14, inside Carmichael Arena for Senior Night presented by Carolina Alumni.
Introductions will begin at 6:45 p.m. ET and the meet will air on ACCNX with Matt Krause and Sydney Snead on call.

- North Carolina is ranked No. 24 this week, its eighth straight week in the top 25.
- This week, the Tar Heels rank 23rd nationally on vault (49.04), 19th on bars (49.2), 21st on beam (49.11) and 42nd on floor (49.045), all based on NQS.
- In the ACC, UNC ranks fourth on vault, third on bars and beam, and fifth on floor.
- UNC has 19 rotations of 49.0+ this year, including seven on bars. The team has scored 49.0+ in at least one event for 13 straight meets dating back to 2024. That's tied for the second longest streak in school history.
- Julia Knower was nominated for the prestigious AAI Award. She has 195 career routines and 48 career all-around performances as of March 10. All five of her top scores rank in the top eight on UNC's all-time list.
- With an NQS of 9.925 on bars, Lali Dekanoidze ranks first in the ACC, second in the Southeast Region and sixth in the country. Her average bars score is 9.906.
- Six of Dekanoidze's nine bar routines this year have been 9.9+. She is on a four-meet streak of scoring 9.9+. She matched her school record of 9.975 on Jan. 24.
- JoJo Valahovic won four straight ACC Newcomer of the Week awards, all in February. She's the first gymnast in ACC Gymnastics history to win the honor more than two times. She is the only ACC freshman to score a 9.95+ on beam.
- Last time at home on Feb. 28, Carolina set a season-high 196.675. That is the eighth highest score in program history, and the best during the Danna Durante era. The team's season-high 49.4 on bars that meet is the third best in school history.
- Several Tar Heels are ranked in the ACC's top 10 based on NQS: JoJo Valahovic (6th, vault, 9.85), Kaya Forbes (8th, vault, 9.835), Lali Dekanoidze (1st, bars, 9.925), Gwen Fink (6th, beam, 9.875), JoJo Valahovic (9th, beam, 9.87) and Julia Knower (7th, all-around, 39.23).
