Softball Falls To Auburn In Final Game Of Weekend
February 9, 2025 | Softball
AUBURN, Ala. – The Carolina softball team fell in five innings against Auburn on Sunday afternoon by a score of 11-1.
Kenna Raye Dark extended her scoreless innings streak to 14.1 innings to open the season, but it was snapped after the Tigers hit a two-run homer in the second inning.
The Tar Heel bats couldn't get anything going early on, only getting on hit through the first four innings, coming off the bat of Rayna Blackwell.
The bottom of the fourth is where things spiraled for Carolina. Auburn sent 11 to the plate and scored nine runs to take a commanding 11-0 lead.
Lexie Roberts would open the top half of the fifth with a triple and eventually score on an RBI groundout from Blackwell.
That was all the Tar Heels could push across as they would fall 11-1 to fall to 3-2 on the season. Their next game is on Wednesday, Feb. 12 at 6 p.m. at Coastal Carolina.
