ATHENS, GA.—Georgia won the doubles point and defeated the North Carolina men's tennis team, 4-0, on Sunday afternoon at the Dan Magill Tennis Center.

With the win, the Bulldogs improved to 4-4 this season. Carolina lost its first road match of the season and fell to 4-3.

Both teams played well in doubles to start the afternoon. Georgia got a win at No. 1 doubles from the #16-ranked duo of Niels Ratiu and Freddy Blaydes over Vladislav Melnic and Chris Xu, 6-3. The Bulldogs' 15th-ranked Thomas Paulsell and Ryan Colby beat Diego Jarry and Anthony Wright at No. 3, 7-5, to clinch the team point.

Georgia won three straight-set victories in singles play to secure the victory.

At No. 5 singles, Oscar Pinto Sansano beat Carolina's Nick Mangiapane, 6-1, 6-0, for a 2-0 Bulldog lead. Niels Ratiiu topped Wright, 6-4, 6-2, at No. 4 to make the score 3-0, then 36th-ranked Ryan Colby defeated Constantinos Djakouris, 6-2, 6-0, at the No. 1 position to clinch the Bulldog victory.

The Tar Heels will begin a five-match homestand on Sunday February 16 with a doubleheader at the Chewning Tennis Center against The Citadel. the stretch of home matches in Chapel Hill also will include a meeting with 2024 NCAA Tournament participant South Carolina State and the start of Atlantic Coast Conference action against Virginia Tech and Virginia.
