Wrestling Falls At Oregon State, Four Tar Heels Victorious At Wildcat Open

CORVALLIS, Ore. – The 16th-ranked North Carolina wrestling team fell in the regular season finale on Sunday to Oregon State, 22-14.
On the night, four Tar Heels were victorious: Spencer Moore (125), Ethan Oakley (133), Gavin Kane (184) and Nolan Neves (285).
Moore sent the match against No. 13 Maximo Renteria to sudden victory, courtesy of a takedown in the final minute. In the bonus wrestling, Moore scored once again, earning the top-15 win.
Next at 133, ahead 8-4 with riding time in his favor, Oakley collected the takedown at the end to clinch the 12-4 major decision.
After falling behind 6-2 after the opening period, Kane battled back against Oregon State's TJ McDonnell in the final two periods to win by decision, 10-7.
At heavyweight, Nolan Neves earned his fourth-straight dual win, including his third ranked victory in that stretch, clipping 23rd-ranked Brett Mower by major decision, 16-4.
Up next, the Tar Heels will head to the 2025 ACC Wrestling Championships at Cameron Indoor Stadium on the campus of Duke, March 9.
