Walk To The Game: Smith Center Will Open At 5:30 PM
February 19, 2025 | Men's Basketball
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — With snow and ice causing treacherous road conditions in the Triangle area, the University of North Carolina is encouraging fans in driving distance to watch tonight's game against rival NC State at home – while opening the Smith Center to anyone who can safely walk to the game.
Those who have tickets to tonight's 7 p.m. tipoff will have first rights to their seats, while doors to the Smith Center will open at 5:30 p.m. to Tar Heel fans.
"We certainly want our fans here to cheer on our team – but more importantly, we want everyone to be safe,'' said Director of Athletics Bubba Cunningham. "To those on and around campus who can join us, please walk in; we know you will provide a great atmosphere. To those who can't make it, we know you will be supporting our team from home."
Chapel Hill Transit is not running for tonight's game. Concessions will be open.
